Legal Documents

Legal documents are documents that are enforceable or recognised by law. These documents can be made between a government organisation and a party, or any two or more parties. If any of the parties fail to follow the points mentioned in the legal document, then that party may have to face legal implications and could be tried in the federal court.

Such documents are always very formal in nature therefore special care has to be taken while drafting them. Sometimes, people hire legal experts to get legal documents framed because there should be absolutely no scope for any mistakes or errors. After getting a legal document framed from a third party, it should always be thoroughly reviewed by involved parties.

The following points should be kept in mind while drafting any legal document:

  • While writing a legal document, one should keep in mind to use legal terms such as ‘parties’, ’execute’, ’hereby’,’ herein’ etc.
  • Being a formal, document, the sentences used can be long and detailed.
  • The name and details of the involved parties should be mentioned with clarity.
  • In each legal document, there is a set of terms and conditions which need to be followed in order to avoid legal actions, therefore a section of the legal document should be reserved for this purpose.
  • Signatures of the parties form the binding of the document.

There are a huge number of the types of legal documents. The following are a few examples:

  1. Marriage certificate
  2. Divorce papers
  3. Contracts
  4. Agreements
